"What an honor to be a part of Kamaka Pili's first official tour with his new company Now and Then Tours! Through his knowledge of Hawaiian history and all of his research through the years, he shares the honest perspective of what Hawaii is through the eyes of a Native Hawaiian. This is not your regular tour - this is a tour with real information, real perspective and historical photographs to accompany the tour giving you a visual step back in time to what Hawaii was and what it is today.
The tour is a 3-hour walk and stop tour. Kamaka is very mindful about moving through the areas his tour focuses on and then stopping under shady spots to talk about topics in more depth. Kamaka speaks at a good, relaxed pace that everyone can appreciate. He genuinely wants to share what he knows about Hawaiian history and culture with the hopes that real information will pervade and continue.
Bring a hat, sunscreen, water, snack and maybe something to sit on that's portable like a towel or foldable seat.
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour from beginning to end, and I look forward to more tours with Kamaka! Mahalo nui loa!"

"Highly recommend!! Kamaka is an amazing person. He is such an eloquent speaker, you can't help but be mesmerized by everything he says. He did an amazing job teaching us the history of the places we visited and empowered us to share the wisdom. He made everyone feel so welcomed. He was attentive, enthusiastic, and full of Aloha. There is no better person than Kamaka to lead these tours. He's very thoughtful in the production of this tour. The length of time was just right, many stops along the way so you won't be tired of walking. The depth of research he did is mind blowing and very appreciated. He even made it affordable. Mahalo Nui Loa Kamaka for answering the call and honoring your kuleana to share this knowledge of our lovely home. Looking forward to the next tour Can't wait for more tours with him."

"Great tour and very satisfied! Joining the Kapiolani Park walking tour guided by owner Kamaka in April 2025. His happy face said it all while talking about Hawaii. It's purely conveyed that you really liked him and started it. Although they said it's only been established, the tour quality is already very high. Looking at the panel of black and white photos taken before Waikiki flourished, I really enjoyed being immersed in the feeling of walking with my own two feet in the place where Kamaka's speaking tone was exquisite, as if I had traveled back in time. I might sit on the grass when Kamaka explains to me, so I'll bring a paleo or a smaller rug to make it more comfortable. The tour is in English so you need English listening skills but if that's not a problem I really recommend it!!"

"A well-respected kanaka, Kamaka is passionate about conveying Native Hawaiian stories. He has been using several platforms to achieve this for some time, but he has now advanced it to Now and Then Tours. He aims to transport you to the past and then to the present with his meticulous research and images. He captivates his audience, makes the environment secure for everyone, and is approachable. His tours are rich with cultural history and leave you wanting more. I highly recommend his tours whether you are a visitor of kamaʻāina."

"You definitely want to do this walking tour in Queen Kapiʻolani Park. (and future walking tours that get added.). Everyone can learn from it, locals and visitors, keiki to kupuna. Kamaka's impassioned and emotional way of talking story will leave you wanting to learn, understand and research more of the Hawai'ian history, from the language and geography, the monarchy and sovereignty to the people. The strong, honest, caring and respectful way Kamaka has you feeling transported back in time to the extensive history of Hawai'i is immeasurable. Blessed to receive your knowledge and true spirit of aloha. Mahalo nui loa for taking me on the journey with you. Lucky we live Hawai'i."

"I highly recommend this tour to locals and visitors alike. It's a great way to connect to the rich history and spirit of aloha beyond what we know of modern-day Waikiki. The tour guide came well prepared in sharing his vast knowledge. He is a passionate story teller. I now have a greater appreciation of the deeper history when walking around the streets of Waikiki. The tour reinforced my insight on the importance of honoring and respecting this land and its stories."
